Who We Are
We are a bar church and homeless ministry.
We are a community of people that believe in putting more love in the world by providing basic necessities and creating spaces where relationships can be built.
We live that out in 3 main ways. The first is that we gather in bars to discuss the deep stuff of life together, celebrate each other, and offer support to one another. Second, while we are there we make sack lunches with – our signature Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches inside – which we deliver the next day to people experiencing homelessness and poverty. Third we host two free outdoor shopping markets each year near Civic Center Park. Those are our Thanksgiving Thankful for Long John’s event and our Christmas in the Park event. At those events people in need can come and get the clothing, luggage, and sleeping necessities they need to survive.
We are a community of individuals from across the socio-economic spectrum with various beliefs, sexual orientations, genders, backgrounds, and that believe in loving boldly and offering ourselves in service to a great whole.
We want to see people transition out of homelessness and poverty. We are people that believe in taking action. We know that breaking free from the cycle of poverty takes a lot of resources and not everyone will be able to do it. As people are on that journey we provide small reminders of unconditional love and hope in the form of basic necessities so our neighbors can spend their energy on whatever step is next in their journey.
