What’s it like to visit AfterHours?
It all begins with making lunches for people who need them. Here’s where we meet & here’s what to expect:
Some folks come early to whatever bar or restaurant we’re meeting at that week to eat, drink, and chat.
At 7pm we start making lunches. That means spreading peanut butter and jelly on bread, putting sandwiches in baggies, packing fruit, chips, and chewy bars in paper bags, and getting everything packed up for the next day.
After making lunches we pray a little blessing over the meals, asking that they be sign of love for those who receive them. Then we read some scripture, or something inspiring from a book, or ask a discussion topic based on life and current events. We listen, we talk, we ask good questions. We share what makes us happy and what makes us feel crappy.
We do all this an call it church. It’s a lot of what we think church should be, without a lot of the stuff we wish it wasn't.
